The new state-of-the-art Cupcake Telemetry Unit was partly funded by The Gerald and Gail Ronson Family Foundation. It is a crucial part of the Neurosciences Unit on Koala Ward, based on level 5 of the new Morgan Stanley Clinical Building at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The Cupcake Telemetry Suite consists of four Cerebral Telemetry bedrooms, allowing invasive telemetry to monitor brain activity through the insertion of electrodes on the brain. This allows the consultants to assess and treat severe epileptic seizure and strokes. Not only do the new Telemetry bedrooms provide important high-tech functionality, they are also designed for the comfort and privacy of the patients and their families. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, sofa bed, reclining chair and television.
